The Red Cross Safe and Well database ( as "a way for people affected by a disaster to enter information regarding their welfare so family and friends can check their status. Because people self-register, the Red Cross cannot verify the information and is not responsible for any inaccuracies."

Saks Community Center, 20 Hess Drive, is facilitating missing person reports. It is across from the Saks football field.  

Tuscaloosa Mayor Maddox says if you want the police to check on the well-being of a loved one, call (205) 349-2121.

Survivors need to check in with Tuscaloosa Police Department at 205-759-7111.  Searching for Missing Persons – check hospitals first (DCH Tuscaloosa 205-759-7111 or DCH Northport 205-333-4500; 205-349-2121 (non-emergency number for Tuscaloosa Police).  Also, search

If you have information about memorial services or if you have information about a UA, Shelton or Stillman student who is believed to be missing and they are not included in this list, email The Crimson White will provide updates as they become available. If you have students from your department that are currently missing, please let us know and we'll post about them through social media and begin researching their whereabouts. Currently we have about 5,600 followers on Twitter and have helped "find" dozens of students through crowd sourcing. We are also attempting to help locate students that might attend Shelton State or Stillman College.

    Quality of Life and Post-Storm Logistics
    • Household Garbage and Waste: Mayor Walt Maddox has said that he hopes that garbage pickup will resume Thursday, 5/5 Residents may take household garbage, such as kitchen and food waste, to Black Warrior Solid Waste Authority at 3301 Landfill Drive, off U.S. Highway 82 West just west of Mt. Olive Road. The landfill is open from 4:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Fridays and 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
    • Construction and demolition trash can be taken to Cypress Creek Landfill at 6315 12th Avenue East off U.S. Highway 82 East.
